Attendance and Absence
It is vital to a pupil’s progress that he or she should attend regularly and parents’ co-operation is requested in this matter. It may be helpful to make the following points:
Pupils of school age are required by law to be in school
Where a pupil is absent an explanation is required
If no explanation is received we will contact parents that day
Leave of absence may be granted; at the discretion of the governing body
a) for a period of not more than two weeks in an educational year if parents wish their children to accompany them on their annual holiday
b) on any day set apart for religious observation by a religious body to which the pupil’s parents belong.
If your child is away from school for any reason please telephone the school as soon as possible on 01209 712313. Requests for leave of absence for family holidays, religious observation and for other important reasons must be made in writing to the Headteacher. Each application will be considered on its merits.

S.E.N. and Nurture
As part of our ‘inclusion’ and Special Educational Needs provision we run a Nurture group. We are an ‘in house’ project aimed at providing education for children who need extra support. We are able to provide placements for up to 10 children and aim to help them if they have difficulties adapting to school life, which is affecting their learning. We aim to provide that all important safe, predictable environment, where trained staff can help children overcome their difficulties.
SEN Provision
Our ‘Team Link’ staff co-ordinate the support available to our children with Special Educational Needs. A variety of outside agencies are involved wherever necessary: to ensure that every child has the greatest possible educational opportunities. In 2006 we gained the Dyslexia Friendly Schools Status:

Parent Teacher Association
We have a PTA and all parents can be members of the PTA and hopefully will be able to join us in many of the activities that go on during the course of the year.
If you do have a particular talent which you are able to offer the school please let us know and we can either use you as a helper in school or maybe to assist the fundraising.
One of the main aims of the PTA is fundraising in order to assist with a variety of school projects and the other is to form a link with parents to involve them in as much of school life as possible so that you get to know your school and staff better.

Volunteer Helpers
The school welcomes the offer of assistance from parents in classrooms, the library, the swimming pool, with various clubs, sporting activities and the supervision of children on educational visits. We would however point out that we are required by law to see a current CRB check. (Criminal Records Bureau)
